Marlborough Mount Everest Challenge

Date: 11/10/2025
Time: 01:00
The Marlborough Mt Everest Challenge invites you to walk, run, or hike the equivalent height of Mt Everest – that’s 8,848 metres of elevation – over seven weeks, the same time it took Sir Edmund Hillary to conquer the world’s tallest peak in 1953.

You can take on the challenge solo and push your own limits, or make it more fun and achievable by joining forces with friends, family, or colleagues in a team. We’re encouraging more team entries this year – it’s a great way to stay motivated, share the journey, and celebrate your success together.

We’ve selected some of Marlborough’s best tracks to help you reach your goal:

Tirohanga Track (Picton) – 36 climbs

Mt Vernon Track (Blenheim) – 25 climbs

Prefer variety? No problem! You can log any hill or mountain climb in Marlborough using the challenge website. Every metre counts, and your individual or team total will update automatically as you go.

Whether you’re aiming for a personal milestone, exploring local tracks, or building healthy habits with your team, this is a fun and rewarding challenge for all ages and fitness levels.
