Hato Hone St John have benefitted from the support of motorbike enthusiasts from across the region and beyond.

The first responders received a $2000 donation from the Marlborough chapter of the Triumph Riders Motorcycle Club following a charity ride.

Club spokesperson and ride organiser Phil Stuart says it is the third year the club has organised the December fundraiser.

“We wanted to do something that benefited our local community and Hato Hone St John play such a big role here in our community,” Phil says.

About 120 bikes and riders took part in the 200km ride which started at Blenheim’s Waterfront Bar & Grill.

“The first year we held the ride we had around 60 riders, so we’ve doubled in numbers – which is great,” Phil says.

“The support from local businesses this year was very humbling. As riders, we’re the most aware of the dangers of the road and the amazing work they [Hato Hone St John] do.

As well as a rider entry fee, MTF Finance, Marlborough Glass, Stihl Shop, Kenny Barging, Pelorus Tavern, Hunting and Fishing, BB Signs and Picture Perfect Tattoo donated spot and raffle prizes.

Nelson/Marlborough Hato Hone St John area operations manager Anne-Maree Harris is grateful for the donation.

“The kindness and support of club members and local businesses involved again in this year’s charity ride is hugely appreciated.”
