Students at two Marlborough primary schools are starting the year strong, with new stationery packs providing the essentials.
Almost 250 students, 90 from Mayfield School and 159 at Blenheim School, received pens, markers and books for the beginning of the new school year.
The new packs come courtesy of the Tautoko Community Trust and supporters who have been helping both school since 2011.
Tautoko Community Trust manager Carmen Da Costa says contributions from members of Oasis Family Church, Blue Door, Rannoch Charitable Trust and the wider community mean all students are supported.
Both Mayfield and Blenheim School principals say the support means their students and teachers can start the year strong.
“Mayfield School fully appreciates the support we receive from the Tautoko Trust through the supply of the stationery for our Tamariki,” Principal David Nott says.
“This support removes a start of year cost from our whānau, lessens the stress of getting the kids back to school, and allows our staff to get started with our teaching and learning programmes straight away, with the tamariki having everything they need for their learning.
“It is a very generous contribution to our school community and we are incredibly grateful.”
The Tautoko Trust understands the financial strain and pressure this time of year can cause whānau, Blenheim School Principal Kellyann Thorstensen adds
“This invaluable contribution plays a significant role in removing barriers and enhancing the educational experience of our students, equipping them with the necessary tools for success in their learning.
“Our students can simply focus on their learning without any worries about not having the essential tools required.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Tautoko Trust for their steadfast support and dedication to the success of our students, as they have been amazing to deal with in fundraising, ordering, and delivering, stationery to our school for 159 students.”
