68 of Picton’s pups brought smiles to many around town last Saturday with the Picton Vet Clinic’s 4th annual Traffic Light Bandana Dog Walk and Games Day.

The bandana’s allowed owners to show how cautious their dogs were, with happy pups the primary goal of the day.

The attendees went for a great walk through Picton, visited the Seaview Retirement Home and played plenty of dog and owner games with many spot prizes for the whole range of pups and their owners who came along.

“I really couldn’t have asked for a better day, the dogs were all very well behaved and we had such great comments and support from dog owners”, said organiser Dr Christina MacKenzie.

“One of the retirees was out with a photo of his old dog who was having a wonderful time with his furry guests, which really plucked at my heartstrings”.

On returning to the park, dogs and owners enjoyed a great day out under the traffic light bandana system. Wary dogs wore red, friendly dogs wore green and changeable ones dressed in yellow.

New favourites saw a dog and owner lookalike competition, and joint fancy dress competitions, although Christina says her spoon selections might need to be more particular next year.

“We had people sprinting with their dogs in the egg and spoon race because the spoons were too stable!”

“Thank you to everyone who came along, and all of our supporters, and just everyone who got a good smile out of the day”.
