High-octane, and high stakes rubber duck racing attracted over a thousand people to Pollard Park last Sunday.

The popular annual Five Buck a Duck Derby fundraiser for Life Education Trust Marlborough gathered thousands along the Pollard Park stream to watch 700 ducks race to be the first to the rotunda finish line.

Popular special guest Harold the Giraffe was on the scene to cheer on the ducks and help the Blenheim Rotary and MTF Finance team on hand at the finish line to collect the correct winners. The rubber duck race came down to a beak length with #157 hitting the netting just ahead of #199 and #371, while the opening corporate duck race was just as close between the winners Liquid Action, Mediaworks Andrew Scott in second and Hakuna Matata Café in third.

First place won $500 cash from MTF Finance Blenheim, while second won a $500 Interislander travel voucher and third a $100 Quench Restaurant voucher.
