It’s the last days to acknowledge Marlborough’s most dedicated volunteers, as the deadline for the 2025 Marlborough Community & Volunteer of the Year Awards is nearly closed.
The annual awards commemorate volunteers, with Community Awards focusing on volunteer group work and the Volunteer of the Year awards acknowledging individual efforts.
With entries closing this Saturday May 31 ahead of awards night on June 27, Volunteer Marlborough General Manager Meg Martin says the time is right now to acknowledge those local heroes who do so much otherwise unsung work
“Volunteers are the heart of Marlborough — they bring people together, support essential services, and help our region thrive in ways that often go unseen.
“From delivering meals and mentoring youth to restoring the environment and running community events, their impact touches every corner of our community.
“Recognising volunteers through these awards is our way of shining a light on that impact.
“It’s about celebrating the people who give their time, energy, and skills to make Marlborough a better place — and reminding others just how powerful volunteering can be”.
Not-for-profit organisations and community groups are judged into six categories with an overall winner, while the individual volunteer impact awards have nine categories before an overall Community Organisation and Volunteer of the Year is announced.
