The “Future of Work” is coming soon! The highly successful Future of Work conference showcases what the workplace of tomorrow looks like for local young people - inspiring them to become part of the region’s future.

Future of Work supports students whether they’re headed to university, into trades, or have no idea what they want to do after school – helping all young people to discover a purposeful pathway into their future.

Future of Work is an initiative unique to Marlborough and organised by the Graeme Dingle Foundation Marlborough and the Marlborough District Council, with additional funding support from Port Marlborough. This year it will be held at the Marlborough Events Centre on Wednesday June 11.

Students will have a dedicated time to circulate around the Interactive Zone – where study providers connect, and industry demonstrations and interactive displays highlight technological tools, changes and opportunities. The event specialises in showcasing a vast variety of career and study pathways in an interactive way. “It’s a great chance for the students to see what career and study possibilities exist across business and industry, ask questions, and engage with people in the field they’re exploring. With over 50 industries and 80+ organisations expected to take part, there is truly a wealth of ideas on offer,” explains Graeme Dingle Foundation Marlborough’s Regional Manager, Kelvin Watt.

The event includes a whānau session from 3-6pm at the venue, where any Year 7-13 student can come along with whānau members to discover their future possibilities.

“There’s plenty of research showing young people make better career decisions when their families are involved,” says Kelvin. “Coming to the evening event provides a chance to see opportunities that lie ahead for their children that they may never have thought of or been exposed to. They can ask questions and explore the range of exciting work possibilities out there - together.”

“And we’re excited to be able to offer some incredible manaakitanga and hospitality for the whānau session this year! Thanks to the generosity of the Rapid Relief Team, we will have free burgers on offer for families attending Future of Work. The Rapid Relief Team will be cooking up a storm from 4-6pm (or while stocks last).”
