Truck-pedestrian crash south of Kaikōura confirmed fatal

A crash this morning was confirmed as fatal by police.
Police have confirmed a person has died after being hit by a truck at Peketā this morning.
Emergency services were called to the serious crash near Kaikōura this morning which forced the closure of State Highway 1 between the Inland Kaikoura Road/State Highway 70 and Leader Road East near Peketā, about 9.20am.
The Serious Crash Unit has conducted a scene examination and State Highway 1 reopened about 2.40pm.
