Audio equipment frequently used at many Marlborough events have been stolen and the owner is asking for it to be returned “no questions asked”.
Duncan Mackenzie was disappointed to have had his lockup broken into and the microphones, speakers, controllers and wires which have magnified many important moments for the region stolen.
“Over the years I’ve donated my time and the use of the equipment, sometimes discounted, sometimes free to a number of local causes”, recalls Duncan, organiser of many events in the region over the past two decades and more.
The main items taken are a Yamaha MG124CX mixer, a Yamaha DXR12 powered speaker, an Electrovoice ZLX-12P powered speaker, 14 sets of the GrapeRide bunch police kit, six LED lights and several wireless microphones.
The equipment was used on a number of occasions, including when former Mayor Alistair Sowman welcomed Olympic gold medallist Joseph Sullivan back to Picton, for a number of Lights Over Marlborough events, Earth Day, cyclocross events, Marlborough junior cycling tours, Springfest, Six Strings Music academy concerts, Graeme Dingle Foundation events, Waikawa Boating Club regattas, ANZAC ceremonies and last year when current Mayor Nadine Taylor welcomed the victorious Tasman Mako back to Marlborough bearing the Ranfurly Shield.
