In an unexpected turn of events, the Picton Retired Services Association has once again been uprooted — this time to The Thirsty Pig.
The move follows the sudden closure of the Texas Tea Bar & Grill where the RSA had been based, after leaseholders announced their early July departure at the end of June.
The Picton RSA had only recently settled into the back bar of the High St, Picton venue after moving from its longtime Wellington Street premises just over a year ago.
With their new premises now unavailable, the RSA executive committee have found a temporary home for weekly Wednesday night meat raffles, members’ draws, and quiz nights across High St at the Thirsty Pig while the committee explores future options.
“It has been an eventful few days as we navigate the closure of Texas Tea Bar & Grill, however myself and my hard-working executive committee are doing everything we can to clarify the next steps and ensure the best outcome for our members and the club”, said President Rachel Greig in her letter to members in the Newsletter.
“While each RSA is unique, we are all united in purpose — honouring our past, supporting our people, and ensuring the future of our RSAs remains strong.”
