Ski Sisters not letting chance skate by

An entrepreneurial duo of sisters are pleased a popular St Arnaud spot has allowed for ice skating this winter.

Teetotal Ice Skating Pond is frozen and ready for skating today for ‘Ski Sisters’ Kaitlyn and Emma Robinson.

“It’s great to have people here when we can, enjoying Teetotal Pond’s ice", said mum Rachel, while Kaitlyn and Emma were busy sharpening skates and dressing the ice rink.

“Lake Rotoiti School took the opportunity for a field trip to come up here today and enjoy the ice skating while we have it”.

Kaitlyn and Emma’s Ski Sisters business hires out ice skates, as well as doing preparation work on skis and snowboards for the winter season.

As Teetotal Pond doesn’t always freeze each winter, Rachel says they’re making the most of it.

“It takes a good few successive frosts and low temperatures to make Teetotal thick enough for skating, so it’s a hopeful sign for Rainbow”.

“After having the girls purchase skates and open up the opportunity for more people to have a go ice skating locally, they’re really excited to have it open”.
