The pathway to Garden Marlborough 2025 is officially open, with high-profile local and international guests ready to grace the region’s gardens this November.
Although Wednesday marked the official launch of Garden Marlborough 2025 ahead of the November 6-9 event, many gardening fans beat even the launch party to the punch with some tours and talks selling out within two days.
“There’s always plenty of excitement for Garden Marlborough, tickets went on sale on Monday, which people jump on, and we've already sold out quite a few events as we speak”, says events manager Amanda McRae on Wednesday.
“It is quite a hectic time for our two part-time employees and the thousands of hours from hundreds of volunteers, especially being able to get an international garden superstar Jamie Durie coming from Australia, which is very exciting for November.”
The opening event highlighted the support of garden tour hosts, supporters and sponsors in putting together a nationally-significant weekend for green-fingered guests.
“The region feels Garden Marlborough is a full regional event and embraces it, as through November we see all over the place the joy and the colour that it brings”, commented Mayor Nadine Taylor.
“A commonality that the BBC found in studying long-lived communities around the world was gardening - the health and the joy and something that the Japanese called ikigai, which is the reason for living and my purpose in life, that it gives.
“Gardening is many people's natural happy place, so thank you to each and every one of you who bring this happiness to us,” the mayor added.
