The countdown is on... and the launch of Festival of Wheels for 2025 is just around the corner! Renwick will host the free community event this month for the first time in more than a decade.

Running from 11am to 3pm, the festival will showcase a wide range of vehicles including diggers, tractors, sports cars and motorbikes. Last held over ten years ago, organisers say the return has been driven by strong community interest.
Centre manager Kate McDougall explains the idea to revive the event came from wanting to see the facility used more often for local gatherings. “It’s about creating opportunities for the community, not just for car enthusiasts,” she says. “We have a great facility here, and it should be a place where people come together.”
The day has been designed to cater to families as well as motoring fans. Jam-packed with entertainment, a bouncy castle will be on site for children, while food and drink vendors will provide plenty of options for visitors. The Renwick Fire Brigade will also be putting on a display. “Whether you’re into engines or simply looking for something different to do on a Sunday, the festival offers a bit of everything with fun for the whole whānau,” Kate says.
Organisers are still taking registrations for vehicle entry which closes on Friday, October 17. “This will give us enough time to process them and send out the information packs,” says manager, Pam Benseman. “We listened to feedback from previous events and are excited to announce that this year we have reduced the registration fee by a third.” At just $5 per car or motorbike, it is an opportunity too good to miss!
Funds raised through exhibitor entry fees will go back into the Renwick Sports & Events Centre and help support local sport. Organisers say the event would not be possible without the backing of the Marlborough District Council’s Community Events Grant and local sponsors.
The response from locals has been encouraging, with many planning to bring along their vehicles for display. “It’s been fantastic to see so many people keen to be involved. Having local exhibitors makes the event special and helps give it that community feel.”
With cars, bikes, machinery and family attractions on offer, organisers hope the Festival of Wheels will re-establish itself as a regular fixture on the Renwick events calendar. “We’re revving up for an incredible day, see you there!”
