The Marlborough A&P Committee have planned a fun-filled family day for the 152nd Show on the 8th of November. Alice Parkinson the show’s administrator says the focus is on opportunities for participation for the whole family, beginning with free entry for children.

“We aim to have as many events as possible free of charge to make the day as economical as possible for families.

Entries are flooding in for the creative hand-made student section which is a Royal Event this year.  Cooking, needlework and photography are among the many classes available in the schedule.

Elsewhere, there is much to see. A record number of trade stands will be on-site this year with applicants from all over New Zealand.

Entries are free in the pet competition, and nearby Walnut Ranch have their petting zoo. Harcourts Young Future Farmer’s obstacle course will be running, situated close to the pavilion. There will be a children’s circus entertainer and free face painting.

Music will be provided by the 6 Strings Musical Academy. Show Jumping Competitions will run throughout the day. The dog trials and wood chopping will take place in the morning, and the ever-popular terrier race will be an added attraction.

Recently introduced classes include the Best Sausage ompetition and the Battle of the Districts Sheep Team section, the Gift Sheep Competition, and the Seeds competition. The Best Pig section will appear for the second year, where even the exhibitors will be judged on their appearance.

The Boomtown and Two Rivers Bar will be open all day and there will be numerous food and coffee trucks to feed the hungry.

There is still time to enter the many classes on offer. The schedule can be found on the Marlborough Show website: marlboroughshow.co.nz
