Spring wind warning in effect for Marlborough

Weather warnings across the country, with Marlborough under a wind warning from today at 2pm until 6pm tomorrow and heavy rain expected in the Nelson Lakes and St Arnaud Range: Metservice.

Batten down the hatches for the next couple of days, as a windy blast finds its way into Marlborough.

From 2pm today through until 6pm Tuesday, Marlborough is under an orange wind warning with severe gale north westerlies gusting 130 km/h in exposed places.

Nelson Lakes National Park, Spenser Mountains and the St Arnaud Range are also under an orange rain warning from 9pm tonight until 1pm Tuesday, with 90 to 140 mm of rain expected in the ranges.

MetService recommended to prepare your property by securing items that can be picked up by strong winds.

Damage to trees, powerlines, and unsecured structures possible. Driving may be difficult, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.
