Marlborough Kahikatea have taken the early lead in the 10-round Wine Brokers NZ Marlborough Interclub Premiership competition.
The competition again involves two men’s doubles matches and a women’s double, followed by six singles involving all players.
After three weeks of Wednesday evening play, the Kahikatea crew hold a slender lead in what is shaping as a tightly-fought competition.
Their players so far include Mia Harris, who leads the competition with five wins so far, Fynn Weaver, Josh Gwynne, Callum Wells, Paul Carrodus, Jane Davidson, Anna Simpson and Stephen Dempster.
Six teams are in the running this season, Kahikatea and Rimu from the Marlborough club, Rose, Blanc and Noir from Rapaura and CPR from Renwick.
Points after three rounds: Kahikatea 47, Rimu 40, Rose 32, Blanc 31, CPR 28, Noir 24.
