A collection of inspiring work by young artists will be on display at the Marlborough Art Society during the Children & Youth Art Exhibition.

The exhibition, running from 29 November to 7 December, with an opening night on Friday, 28 November at 6pm, celebrates creative talent developed through classes with artists Emma Toy and Debbie Godsiff, supported by community organisation Creative at Heart.

Emma says she is inspired by how her students see the world and express it through art.

“Kids are so creative, and they don’t hold back like we do – they’re just out there, so uninhibited, making friends in the classes from different schools across the region. I’m so pleased they’ll be able to come and see their work in the gallery and see it displayed.

“This couldn’t be less about us – it’s all for young people and children to showcase their talent and invite their friends and family to see the great work they’re doing.

“It’s worth acknowledging that this is a brave step for our youth to put their work on display, and they’ve produced such a range – from prints, sculptures, watercolours, drawings, linoleum cuts and more.

“When there’s a show on, Art Society members volunteer on the desk, and I always take students through. It’s great to see how children are inspired by the range of members’ work, directly and indirectly influencing the incredible artistic talent we have to nurture in Marlborough.”
