Doing it tough

Waihopai Valley was buzzing with energy on Sunday, November 30, as more than 150 eager participants took on the inaugural Renwick School Tough Kids Challenge.

Under perfect skies, students and a few brave parents tackled a course designed to test grit, teamwork, and requiring a good sense of humour.

The event featured muddy obstacles, balance challenges, and plenty of splash zones, ensuring no one crossed the finish line clean.

Organisers hailed the event as a huge success, promising it will become a regular fixture on the school calendar, “and will only get bigger and better,” says Renwick School principal Michelle Spencer.

The parents’ race closed the day with plenty of friendly rivalry and more than a few spectacular tumbles. “It’s all about giving kids confidence and having fun together,” said one smiling parent, still dripping with mud.
