Marlborough’s 30-strong Special Olympics team put on a strong performance at the 2025 Special Olympics Summer Games in Christchurch across December 10 -14 , bringing many medals and even more memories back up State Highway 1 across many different sports.

Basketball - James – Bronze in 5v5 basketball

Equestrian - Hannah Dickens – Gold in Dressage, Silver in Equitation, Bronze in Working Trail. Zoe Tate – Gold in Equitation, Silver in Dressage.

Golf - Simon Ridder – Silver, 9 hole Golf individual, Tamati Matene – Silver, 18 hole Golf individual, Sam Claughton – Bronze, 9 hole Golf individual, Jules and Fredric Escalle – Bronze, Pairs 9 hole Alternate Shot Golf

Powerlifting - Benn Thomas – Gold in squat, Silver in bench, Silver in deadlift, overall Silver for Powerlifting
