The roar of Triumph motorcycles has helped keep the whir of rotor blades going, supporting lifesaving work across the region this summer.
On Saturday, 6 December, members of the Triumph Riders Motorcycle Club Marlborough Chapter, along with guests from both islands, took part in their annual Xmas Dice Charity Run to raise funds for the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Trust.
The ride began at the Waterfront Bar & Grill in Blenheim, with stands up at 11am. Eighty riders headed into the back roads towards the Pelorus Tavern in Canvastown, where they enjoyed lunch and live music.
After lunch, riders travelled through Queen Charlotte Drive to the Crow Tavern, where they rolled dice for prizes. The highest score won the largest prize, with awards also for second place and the lowest roll.
Phil Stuart, President of the Marlborough Chapter, presented Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Trust General Manager Paula Muddle with a cheque for $2,000 raised on the day.
Phil said, “We couldn’t do this without our sponsors. They are just fantastic and their continued loyalty is great – the Marlborough businesses are really humbling. It’s always a great day out. This is our fourth annual Dice Run and we have our 10th anniversary coming up next year, which we hope will be a big one.”
Paula said, “It is always awesome when the Marlborough community gets behind our vital community service. These riders really understand the importance of emergency services in their region, both when they are on and off the road. A huge thank you to all the organisers, businesses and riders for their support.”
