Casualty crash closes SH1 at Redwood Pass

A crash with "serious injuries" at Redwood Pass closed SH1 to traffic on Sunday morning, Police NZ reported.
People on scene indicated at least one fatality among five casualties, but police had no further information available as of noon.
According to the police release, "Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash at around 10:40am. Initial indications suggest there are serious injuries. The Serious Crash Unit has been advised."
Police advise motorists "to expect delays or avoid travel if possible."
