Ward Street stabbing confirmed

Police arrested a 51-year-old man who faces charges stemming from a stabbing on Ward Street in Blenheim last night (25 February).

A police spokesperson confirmed the incident and said the suspect was scheduled to appear today in Blenheim District Court "charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm".

The victim, who like the suspect was not identified, "was critically injured in the incident and was transported to hospital," the spokesperson continued. "Enquiries into the incident are ongoing but initial indications are that those involved are known to each other."
