Streetside’s re-cycling
Re: “Eltham path going barrier-free”
“The councillor gave a quick explanation, to which the man replied, ‘It’s about time’.” Love it, Cyril: giving straight answers on the footpath rather than having to be OIAed for a response.
—Aaron Goodwin
Would sooner see a posted speed restriction for Riverlands Industrial Estate [on SH1] instead of light vehicles sitting in centre lane and 50-tonne vehicles passing at 100kph. Bloody ridiculous.

Re: “Tasman rugby boss suspended”
Interesting choice to stand him down; however, Marlborough rugby has been on a decline for a long time now. It took a lot of mahi from some longstanding pillars in our community to help build clubs back up just to field division two teams. The Tasman Trophy should have always been an elimination style comp over a shorter period to allow teams to not be hit as hard financially. We are both proud rugby regions; it's time we get our identity back.
—Gerard Samuel Mckoy
Probably not his fault. Unfortunately, interest in rugby at the grassroots level is very low and declining.
—Andrew Sales
Grassroots rugby is where it starts. We won't have club rugby if changes aren't made going forward, and I'm sure we all know this.
—Manahi Clarke
Seems that NZ rugby is imploding from the top down. Lost faith in the management and struggling with the game.
—Brian Smith
Too little, too late?
Re: “SH1 speed drop proposed by Amberly”
Should just build a bypass instead of slowing traffic down – avoid the town and the so-called dangers altogether. One also has to ask, “Why now?” Was it not important six months ago?
—Jamarl Thompson
The speed limit reduction is required because of a new subdivision and retirement village having access to SH1 in this part of Amberley.
—Tony Trewinnard
It’s only 900 metres; hardly going to make much difference to your travel time.
—Clive Aitchison
Lowering the speed limits previously didn't change a thing. All it does is create more impatient drivers.
—Maureen Blackman
It's not going to stop the idiots driving.
