Saturday’s Rapaura School Country Harvest Fair again proved a significant drawcard while providing a significant financial boost for the small country school.

The day raised approximately $25,000, which goes directly to help the school with subsidies for camps, transportation, school trips, learning support, playground equipment and more.

“We are really happy with how the day went,” said Caroline Connor, Friends of Rapaura School president. “The weather was perfect, and we had a great turnout. For a small school, it’s a massive effort and always tricky to pick a date with other events running in Marlborough at the same time.”

The annual air featured a range of activities including silent and wine auctions; a chocolate wheel; home baking sales; fresh produce and clothing stalls; plus, plenty of children’s entertainment, such as the bouncy trailer ride, inflatable slides, face painting and skill games.

“The sunflowers grown for the event weren’t quite ready for the day with the wetter summer months we had had,” Caroline added, “so we are excited to have these available for sale at New World and Meaters of Marlborough in the coming weeks.”
