The sound of polished engines and the sight of gleaming chrome will once again fill the Waterlea Racecourse when the Annual Hospice Vehicle Display returns on Sunday 15 March. Running from 10am to 2pm, the much-loved community event combines a passion for vehicles with an important cause, raising funds for Hospice Marlborough.

Organised by Classic Cars Marlborough, the display has become a regular highlight on the region’s events calendar. Car enthusiasts from across Marlborough and Nelson come together to share their pride and joy while supporting a service that touches the lives of many local families.

“I’ve been involved for many years,” says committee member, Pat Clay. “It’s for such an important cause. A variety of Nelson and Marlborough car clubs are involved, and it’s always a great day out.”
“Last year around 500 vehicles were on display. Visitors can expect to see everything from elegant vintage and classic cars along with modern performance vehicles, trucks, boats and even tractors. The variety is part of what keeps people coming back each year.”
“There’s always a surprise in what turns up,” adds Kevin Parkes, also on the organising team.
Adding a special feature to this year’s event will be a strong showing from Porsche enthusiasts, with the Porsche Club linking the display with its annual gathering. Their presence is expected to bring an impressive lineup of the iconic sports cars to the racecourse.

The day is designed to be relaxed and family friendly. Entry for the public is by gold coin donation, making it an inexpensive outing for families. Display vehicles are welcome to arrive from 9am, with a $5 entry per car, with all proceeds going directly to Hospice Marlborough.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic, wander through the rows of vehicles and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. The Rock and Roll Club Blenheim will also be on hand, adding a lively retro soundtrack to the day.
Food and refreshments will be plentiful along with the popular Hospice sausage sizzle.

With impressive vehicles, good food and a strong community spirit, the Annual Hospice Vehicle Display promises another memorable day in support of a very worthwhile cause.
