A century of Flaxbourne A&P Show history was celebrated in full swing at the century milestone event in Ward last Sunday.

With the sun shining and country air clear, the day proved to be perfect for locals and visitors turning out for the full day schedule of amusements, country stalls, crafts and competitions.
Highlights included the H Blackwell Contracting Family Scarecrow competition in which entrants really showed creativity, including a Wal Footrot lookalike and Superman himself; and the giant pumpkin competition, which turned out some incredible sizes, with Ted Millton taking out the top prize.

"It’s so wonderful to see so many people here enjoying the show,” A&P Show Secretary Bernadette Gilmore commented, thrilled with the turnout.
Gate sales were well up on previous years, she said, and with amazing feedback from those who attended, organisers are thrilled the 100-year celebration was a proud nod to the community.
