Thursday afternoon at Lansdowne Park is Tasman Rippa Rugby time.

Ninety-two teams from schools across the region provide a colourful show of athleticism, enthusiasm and endeavour as their teams compete in a series of fast-paced games.

The competition provides an ideal lead-in to the rugby season, offering a chance for primary school-aged children to stretch their legs and have some fun in 20-minute matches.

Lachie Spooner from the Renwick Drua year 3-4 team leaps to avoid a rip, but his Rai Valley Area School rival appears to have secured a tag. Photo: Peter Jones.
