With inclement weather forecast, organisers have postponed the Mauri Ora – Every Life Matters Hīkoi planned for Friday at Seymour Square.
Louise Rudolph, Kia Piki Te Ora Suicide Prevention Coordinator, announced the decision "with a heavy heart". She anticipates a reschedule for spring – "a time of renewal" – as opposed to cancellation.
"I have looked at my wonderful ponchos, but I would be asking them to do more than they could cope with," she said, given the heavy rains expected. "I do not want to see anyone get sick or be so cold that our gathering would be remembered as negative one.
"In the meantime, if you feel called to be part of shaping community suicide prevention and postvention support, I warmly invite you to reach out to me."
