Library users who have cocked their brows at scaffolding around the Picton branch and shielded their ears from power tool sounds at the Blenheim branch can breathe easier.
According to a Council spokesperson, these are signs of "routine maintenance" at both sites.
"Work is underway on routine maintenance of the cedar-cladding at the Picton Library and Service Centre Waitohi Whare Mātauranga," the spokesperson explained. "Since the building was completed in 2017, this work has been done in accordance with its building maintenance programme and within planned budgets."
Meanwhile, Council added, "Te Kahu o Waipuna has also been carrying out maintenance work on external screens as part of its building maintenance programme." That building opened in 2023.
