Capping a series of remembrances across Marlborough, thousands of Marlburians gathered around the the War Memorial Clock Tower in Blenheim at midday on Saturday for the Anzac Day 2026 United Memorial Service.

The commemoration for servicemen and servicewomen lost in battle commenced with a flypast by two fighter jets as the bells chimed noon. Mayor Nadine Taylor guided the 50-minute service which featured remarks by her, Marlborough RSA President Sandy Snell and Royal Australian Navy POMT Anthony Borg. Padre Terry Terril offered the benediction, prayer and scripture reading.

Marlborough observances on Anzac Day began with a 6am service in Picton. A half-dozen other communities hosted memorials before the culminating event in Blenheim.
