Marlborough braces for strong winds

MetService issued a 15-hour strong wind watch on Friday (8 May) for Marlborough northwest of the Awatere River.
The watch, which has a moderate chance of upgrading to a warning, runs from 1pm Friday through 4am Saturday.
"Northerly winds may approach severe gale in exposed places," MetService advised. Nelson and Tasman areas also received a watch advisory on Friday morning, from noon to 9pm.
