Re: “Safe harbour”
Why not add hotels, casinos restaurants, cafes and shops to fund it all? It seems it could be so much more than a passenger terminal that the ratepayer pays for. As for smiley faces [in the photo], no one’s smiling at the added half-hour each end just to walk on and off the boat.

Re: “Soul Vet eases pets over rainbow bridge”
We are very grateful for Charlotte's services regarding putting down two lovely old dogs with issues recently. Thank you, Charlotte.

If you own an animal, it is your responsibility. That includes putting it down yourself, not taking the gutless option and passing the dirty work to the vet.

Re: “Sam goes for a wander (again)”
Have you been door-knocking, asking people to check garages, etc? Need to go farther than you think and leave your number. Ask to look under houses, as well. Go out at night, walking slowly, and calling and listening. Leave bowls of water and bikkies at the door; leave outside lights and unwashed clothing on the line. And if people aren't home, go back.

Levee-headedness?
Re: “Marlborough’s storm-struck roads reopen”
Need to build roads a bit higher than rivers’ limits.

Walking the talk
Re: Uncorked
I’ve always wondered why everyone says “councillors” and never “council workers” --those who do all the work in those council buildings while the councillors talk the talk fighting over who does the most.

Accounted-for presence
Re: “They who pay the piper call the tune”
So, by “embedded division”, Mr Hope, you mean you do not want any opinions other than your own? This is either a democratic council with meetings open to the public and actual involvement with the council, or it is not democratic at all. We are the payers of the piper; we should expect nothing less than to be present at council meetings if we so choose.
