Motorist on Redwood Pass Road near Seddon will face daytime delays over the next several months as work ramps up to replace the aging watermain.
Council announced on Thursday that construction crews will begin laying pipe on Friday (29 May). Work on the berm started last weekend, and the completion is expected in early September.
The affected area of Redwood Pass Road is between Ugbrooke Road and Renners Road.
For traffic management, Council said, "a priority give-way – single lane closure – will be used when construction is near or on the road edge, and shoulder closures will apply at other times during working hours – 7am to 6pm. Drivers should expect a travel delay of around five minutes."
The $1.08 million project is part of a Council programme of upgrading water infrastructure around Marlborough.
"The new, larger-diameter HDPE watermains will replace the aging pipes, providing better flows and improving system resilience," Project Engineer Damith Chanaka explained. "Lateral connections to tobies will also be replaced where needed."
