Fresh off recognition at last week's Marlborough Community & Volunteer of the Year Awards, the Wild Waikawa conservancy is getting a boost from overseas, too.
Ma Earth, a funding platform benefitting "community-led regeneration" projects, chose Wild Waikawa to receive a match for fundraising through 21 July.
"Essentially they will match the funds that we raise locally," Wild Waikawa's Nigel Muir explained. "We feel so very blessed to have been selected by Ma Earth."
This round of funding comes from a pool of $1 million US for 200 global environmental projects. Wild Waikawa was chosen from among 800.
