Marlburians speak their minds on local issues.

Matchmakers
Re: “Wild Waikawa donations getting doubled”
Awesome! Donated. Good luck; what a great funding opportunity.
—Holly Turner

Greater Marlborough
Re: “Kaikōura merger? Weigh in!”
Oh yes. They are an important part of the East Coast; protect and flourish.
— Eric Bayly
Kaikōura wanted to align themselves with Canterbury and are now known as North Canterbury, so let them amalgamate with a Canterbury region.
—Ruth Stagg
Would rather Kaikoura merge with Hurunui.
— Julie Gapper
As long as we don’t end up with Nelson’s mayor.
—Sue Tunnicliff

Renwick deep cut
Re: “Family market trims butchery side”
I’m crying because I can no longer buy the fantastic marinated steak. But I’m happy for the staff. Great decision. Seriously, though, do you guys have a few hundred kg of marinated steak behind the chiller door?
— Nan Pick

Sleepout sentiments
Re: “Lived experience”
Should be camping outside the work and income carpark, surrounding the building, so they get the understanding of homelessness. I truly feel for our homeless community up there – have been in that position. I know exactly how tough it is. Good on you guys for making a stand and uniting for the community.
— Kristin Burgess
Work and income can’t do much; it’s governed by Parliament. So maybe everyone should be wrapped in a blanket outside Parliament.
— Marion Maxwell

Ambulance cost-shift
Re: “Ailing seniors taken for a ride”
Thanks for publishing this, and to the author [Chris Lippiatt], well done. There are many aspects of the care of the elderly families don’t know about.
— Alison Weaver
There is no moral justification. Elderly are increasingly the most impacted cohort as a consequence of policy shifts in both the public and private sector.
—Aaron Goodwin

Firmer footing
Re: “Blenheim’s ‘slippy’ pavers going away”
Long overdue. I often slip on these paved areas especially when raining. So, it’s not just the elderly!
— Stuart Oulton
I fear the revamp is “too little too late”. The horse bolted to Westwood years ago!
— Peter Chapman
