Rugby league rubbed shoulders with rugby recently when the Marlborough Rugby League Festival was staged at Lansdowne Park at the same time as the MBC First XV met their St Bede’s College counterparts.

Four teams from Bohally, Redwoodtown, Queen Charlotte College and HLR Combined competed in the boys’ grade, won 8-6 by Bohally after a thrilling final against Redwoodtown, while Bohally took on a combined Redwoodtown/QCC side in the girls’ division and came out narrow victors.
