Super celebration for parkrun pack

The frost may have been thick on the ground, but the ‘Superheroes’ were out in force to mark a special occasion for the Blenheim parkrun on Saturday, 11 July.
The event was the 10th Anniversary of the local parkrun, with 106 participants turning out in chilly conditions to celebrate the milestone, the 485th edition.
The first Blenheim parkrun was held on 9 July 2016 and since then 5372 people have participated, completing a total of 27,833 parkruns, covering a total distance of 139,165kms.
The previous local celebration came in December 2024 when the 400th edition was held on the banks of the Taylor River.
Run director on Saturday was Phil Muir, who was Run Director for the very first Blenheim parkrun on 9 July, 2016 and was instrumental in bringing the event to Blenheim.
He said, “It’s great to see parkrun so well supported now for 10 years. It’s great how travellers work in their stay so they can complete Blenheim parkrun.
“It’s had over 27,000 runners over that time which is so good for the region, the runners and anyone wanting to start their weekend with some exercise.”
On Saturday the theme was "come dressed as your favourite superhero", with cake and bacon butties enjoyed post event.
