Chilly morning conditions were unable to dampen the heat of competition when the annual Marlborough Junior Winter Tennis Open was staged at the Forrest Winery Marlborough Tennis Centre recently.

The region’s top young talent, plus several players from out of Marlborough, formed a field of 90 who competed in 17 divisions, ages ranging from 10 and under to 15 and over.

Stand out performances from locals came from Amy Watmough-Smith and Monty Muir who won singles and doubles titles in their respective age groups.
