Continuing an operation targeting organised crime and the supply of illicit drugs, Marlborough Police arrested three people in a bust covering two locations.

According to Detective Sergeant Lisa Brent of the Tasman District Organised Crime Unit, officers supported by the Offender Prevention Team executed the search warrants at addresses in Tuamarina and Blenheim on Tuesday.

A 53-year-old Tuamarina man faces charges for unlawful possession of a firearm and drug-related offending. Two Springlands residents, a 38-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, face charges for unlawful possession of two firearms and a large quantity of ammunition.

The Tasman District Organised Crime Unit launched Operation Radich earlier this year "to target the procurement and sale of drugs in the area", the detective sergeant said.

She called these arrests "a positive step in reducing the harm drugs inflict on our communities" and added, "Police will continue to target the individuals and groups driving that harm".
