Residents escape as fire destroys Renwick home

A Renwick family fled for their lives in the early hours of Friday morning after a fire destroyed their home.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand was called to the blaze at 4.53am.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says six appliances from Blenheim, Renwick and Woodbourne responded.
"The fire appears to have started in the garage, and the investigation into its cause is ongoing."
Neighbour Brad Taylor says he was woken shortly after 5am.
"I looked out the back and all I could see was orange, I got my wife and daughter up and outside straight away. The firefighters were incredible they were on the scene so quickly and straight onto controlling the blaze."
All of the people inside the house were evacuated safely.
Fire investigators who spoke to Marlborough App say that the home's smoke alarms had done their job, alerting those inside to the danger.
