METH ARREST

A 42-year-old woman has been charged with supplying methamphetamine into Marlborough following a police investigation. Officers from the Tasman and Christchurch organised crime units searched a Sydenham property on 4 August, arresting the woman and seizing stolen property.

Detective Sergeant Lisa Brent says the arrest disrupted methamphetamine supply into Marlborough and was a positive result for both communities. The woman remains in custody and is due to reappear in Christchurch District Court on 26 August. Police continue to investigate.

PLANTING IN PICTON

More than 5000 native plants have been established at Picton’s Victoria Domain as part of an ongoing biodiversity enhancement project. Marlborough District Council staff, contractors, volunteers and local school groups have helped transform areas once dominated by exotic species into native bush.
The work includes revegetation near the Sussex Street entrance, along the Marina-to-Marina Track and at the Lincoln Street wetland. Contractors have also removed more than 150 wilding pines and other invasive species that threaten native biodiversity and ecological health.
