Savour in the Park steps in after festival postponement

Marlborough’s festival calendar will get a boost next summer, with Savour in the Park returning in an expanded format following the postponement of the Marlborough Wine & Food Festival.

Pure Events Marlborough has announced the event will be held on Saturday, 13 February at Churchill Glade in Pollard Park, offering food, beverages and entertainment for both locals and visitors.

Events manager Katrina Lange-Cairns says the organisation was able to move quickly after learning of the festival’s postponement.

“Festivals of this scale require significant financial investment and place considerable demands on staff who in this case currently need to prioritise other forms of support for their members,” Katrina says.

“With our experience delivering successful events over many years and an established event concept already in place, we were able to step in quickly to help fill the gap.”

Pure Events Marlborough says it understands Wine Marlborough’s decision to postpone the Marlborough Wine & Food Festival and hopes Savour in the Park will provide an alternative regional celebration while supporting local businesses.

The event is expected to benefit accommodation providers, tourism operators, food and beverage businesses, retailers and other enterprises that traditionally gain from festival visitors.

Organisers have also begun discussions with the region’s wine industry about promoting cellar-door experiences before and after the event to encourage visitors to spend more time in Marlborough.

“With the strong relationships we have built with local businesses, foodies, wineries, beer & other alcohol suppliers, we have received an incredible response and have been able to launch the event within a very short timeframe.”

Set within the grounds of Pollard Park, Savour in the Park will feature a range of food and beverage offerings, live band entertainment and a headline act yet to be announced.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, 18 September through Eventfinda.
