Local makers and fundraising for children with cancer will take centre stage when Scenic Hotel Marlborough hosts its Spring Girls’ Gala on Friday, 11 September.

The free event features 30 local vendors showcasing handmade products, artwork, baking and crafts, while raising money for the Child Cancer Foundation.

Scenic Hotel Group has long supported the charity, and Marlborough manager Mick Yuan says the event is always popular.

“The Spring Girls’ Gala is a free event, giving everyone the opportunity to come along, explore 30 local vendors and discover the incredible range of handmade products and creativity in the Marlborough community.”

Raffle tickets will be available for $2, with all prizes donated by vendors and 100 percent of proceeds going to the Child Cancer Foundation.

The gala is also supporting Wig Wednesday, the foundation’s annual awareness and fundraising campaign during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

“I think, being a night market and held indoors, what we have is very unique. There will be local artists and creatives along with bakers, crafters, makers, and plenty more.”

The event runs from 5pm to 8pm, with Savvy Restaurant & Bar open throughout the evening.
