ALZHEIMERS MARLBOROUGH ART TRAIL
120 people attended the successful Alzheimer’s Art Trail gala evening on Saturday, featuring a popular presentation by Michael Hurst on his play In Other Words and its exploration of dementia. There is talk that the production may come to Blenheim next year. Auctioneer Campbell Gill raised $4,200, with about $2,000 going to Alzheimers Marlborough. The silent auction remains open outside Oak & Ivy until Sunday, 20 September.

MORE CHOICES FOR MGC STUDENTS
More than 350 pairs of period underwear worth $15,000 will be made available to students at Marlborough Girls’ College, helping them access a reusable alternative to traditional period products without the usual upfront cost. Hauora & Tuakana Teina leader Stacey Inwood says demand for free period products has increased this year, leading the school to expand the number of locations where pads and tampons are available. While the Ministry of Education already supplies free products through dispensers across the school, MGC sought additional support to meet growing need. Period underwear companies Hello Period and Wicks Intimates donated the products in a range of sizes and styles. Remaining stock will be available through guidance after a lunchtime distribution event for students.

T-SHIRT WINNER
Fairhall School student Elsa Grage (age 12), pictured with Harcourts David Searle, won the annual Harcourts Marlborough Kids Duathlon t-shirt design competition last Friday. Year 7 and 8 students entered the design competition, with Elsa's "Run, Bike, Run" design, featuring Te Reo Māori translations, coming out on top. Her design will be featured on the official race t-shirts for the Duathlon – a multisport event for children aged 6-18 – which will take place on October 18 at the Brancott Estate Vineyard.
