The film chronicles John and Molly Chester’s attempt to create the utopia they seek, planting 10,000 orchard trees and over 200 different crops.

Featuring animals of every kind - including an unforgettable pig named Emma and her best friend, Greasy the rooster, the film is “a testament to the complexity of nature,” organisers say.

When the barking of their beloved dog Todd leads to an eviction notice from their tiny LA apartment, the pair leave the city, taking on 200 acres in the foothills of Ventura County, California.

The land they’ve chosen, however, is utterly depleted of nutrients and suffering from a brutal drought.

Under the tutelage of farming landscape designer and agricultural muse Alan York, the design of Apricot Lane Farms is based around being a self-contained ecological system.

Bayley’s Garden Marlborough is New Zealand’s premiere garden event and tickets for the show went on sale on Monday, making now a great time to make the most of all things garden-related.
