A slow start for MGC proved costly, losing the first quarter 21-13. MGC bounced back to draw the second 20-20 and took out the final two quarters 15-13 and 17-16 but were not quite able to bridge the gap, the visitors taking the match 70-65. Standout players were Ava Jones (Waimea) who scored 47 of their 70 points, while for MGC Sophia Nicholas proved her worth top scoring with 32 points, backed up by Bree Flynn (16) and Jaye Wiapo (9).

Senior netball

Another slow start by the Marlborough side saw Waimea ahead at the first quarter break 11-6. They also took the third 12-9 and the fourth 9-8 to claim a convincing 45-33 victory.
