Safety checks are being carried out before a decision is made this morning on whether roads will reopen and if people can return to their homes.
Inspections are currently underway across the region in the wake of severe flooding which struck yesterday.
Marlborough District Council have confirmed this morning that Lower Terrace residents in Renwick can safely return home.
But evacuees from other areas need to wait for aerial checks to be completed before a decision is made.
River levels have dropped significantly overnight.
A decision on reopening closed roads is expected about 10am this morning.
