Switch in power at Marlborough Lines

A well-known company boss has been appointed as chair of the board at
Marlborough Lines.

Managing director of Robinson Construction Phil Robinson starts as
Board Chair today.

The announcement follows the retirement of David Dew who officially left
the role yesterday after 15 years as Chair.

Phil says he is excited to take Marlborough Lines forward as an industry
leader and keep costs as low as possible for customers.

His appointment comes as the Marlborough Electric Power Trust, who
owns Marlborough Lines, is embroiled in a court action against them
over the purchase of Yealands Wines.

But the company is in good shape, Phil says.

“The company is in good shape with a strong balance sheet, quality
assets, an effective Board and a capable, innovative and committed
team well-placed to take it into the future.

“Our focus is on embracing challenges and opportunities to increase
shareholder value and increasing operational efficiencies so we can
keep prices as low as possible for our electricity consumers.”

Phil joined the board in 2015 as a director. His business interests include
several construction and development related companies. He has a
strong connection to the Marlborough region and commitment to the
economic growth of Marlborough.

Strengthening the governance culture and embracing change and
opportunities is key, he says.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to work with the Trust and my fellow
directors to continue to strengthen our governance culture and take
Marlborough Lines forward as an industry leader.

“Our focus is on embracing challenges and opportunities to increase
shareholder value and increasing operational efficiencies so we can
keep prices as low as possible for our electricity consumers.”

The Board has also thanked David for his significant contribution to the
company during his 20-year tenure.

Playing a part in the company’s growth has been a pleasure, David
says.

Mr Dew said, “It has been my pleasure to serve as Chairman of the
Board and to play a part in the Company’s growth over the last 20 years
to become the successful business it is today, delivering a safe and
reliable electricity supply, adding value and providing increased long-
term benefits to Marlborough’s electricity consumers.

I leave with confidence that the Company is in good hands to continue
its success story into the future.”
