Finals loom for college rowing contingent

A host of Marlborough college rowing crews will line up in a series of A finals at the prestigious Maadi Cup regatta over the next two days.

Seven Marlborough Girls’ College crews will race in a medal decider on either Friday or Saturday at Lake Karapiro.

They include the under-18 pair of Meg Flanagan and Lexi Timpson, the under-17 pair of Maggie Lane and Paige Materoa, the under-18 coxed four of Meg and Emma Flanagan, Liv Theodore, Molly Glover and Lara Bacchus, the under-18 novice four of Grace Straker, Liv Mathews, Ella Barnes, Hazel Glover and Li Na Chapman, the under-16 coxed four comprising Molly Glover, Emma Flanagan, Holly Feltham, Daisy Vavasour and Lara Bacchus, plus both the under-18 novice eight and the under-18 eight.

Marlborough Boys’ College have five crews in A finals, again on both tomorrow and Saturday.

Fred Vavasour will race in the under-18 single decider while James Fitzgerald will contest the under-17 single final. Dylan Burton and Fred Vavasour will feature in the under-18 pair, Hugh Straker and Mason Henderson will contest the under-17 pair while the under-17 coxed quad of Leon Poswillo, Rhys Salvador, Dylan Burton, James Fitzgerald and cox Walter Wickham are in the decider as well.

Added to the mix are Queen Charlotte College rowers Charlotte Lightfoot and Jamie Cunningham who will race in the finals of the under-17 pair and under-17 double, both on Saturday.
