Very dry conditions are likely to make for some high scoring when the annual Allan Scott Family Wines women’s golf tournament returns to the Fairhall course tomorrow.
After a covid-enforced hiatus in 2022, around 170 female golfers from around the country lined up for last year’s three-day tournament.
While numbers are down slightly in 2024, the format is unchanged.
On Monday, a stableford competition will be contested in three divisions, Tuesday sees a four-ball, best-ball pairs competition and the final event, on Wednesday, is a gross and nett competition, also played across three divisions.
Back to defend the Allan Scott Trophy, for most stableford points across the whole field on Monday, is Marlborough player Mary Skilton.
Last year’s division one winner on day one was Marlborough local Lizzie Turnbull, while division two was taken out by Rangiora’s Ann Perkins and division three by Skilton.
On Tuesday, winners were Joy Harding and Judy Jones from Tai Tapu and Picton respectively.
In the final event, on Wednesday, the senior gross title was won by Titirangi’s Linda Nightingale, the intermediate title was claimed by Diana Clark, from Greenacres and the junior gross title went to June Paterson from Royal Wellington.
